Molluscum Treatment
Molluscum is a common condition in kids. It is a self-limited viral infection of the skin that can spread by autoinoculation and is transmitted to others by skin-to-skin contact. Most lesions are asymptomatic, although tenderness and itching can occur and are usually associated with mild local inflammation. The lesions are 1-2 mm shiny, white to flesh-colored, dome-shaped firm papules and often resolve spontaneously within 6-9 months but may persist for up to 24 months. Because molluscum lesions resolve spontaneously in healthy individuals and because there is some risk of scarring with molluscum treatment, the decision to treat must be made on an individual basis.
