Surgical Dermatology
At Basko Dermatology, we provide patients with the convenience of in-office Mohs Surgery for the removal of skin cancers as well as surgical procedures for the removal/destruction of benign and malignant skin lesions, such as:
Lipoma
Skin tags
Benign moles
Dermatofibroma
Seborrheic keratosis
Sebaceous hyperplasia
Malignant melanoma
Basal cell carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma
The journey begins with a comprehensive skin exam, during which a biopsy may be performed to test any suspicious lesions. The tissue is then examined under the microscope and a final diagnosis is rendered. The exact technique and margin of surrounding skin to be removed will be determined based on the location, type and size of the lesion. Skin cancers may be treated with cryotherapy (destruction of lesion by spraying liquid nitrogen), electrodessication and curettage (scraping and burning of tissue) or simple excision (removal of lesion along with some healthy skin tissue around it).
